Guys,
My PC keeps shutting down by itself, no Windows shutdown, just turns off.Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 goes to turn back on again. It's a Packard Bell, running AOL Broadband with AVG Anti-virus.
Any clues appreciated

cheers R

Certainly sounds like an overheating problem. If you have had it a while, you could whip the side off & see if its full of dust, or check the pc is getting enough air. A pal of mine had the same problem, turned out he had put his gloves on top & one had fell down the back, blocking air circulation.

You could also boot, go into your BIOS screen, & check for hardware monitor, there you see the CPU & Mobo temperature.

I have had this problem with my Packard Bell. Having had the engineer out to the problem what I do now if it occours is:

Remove mains plug
Remove the side panel and disconnect and refit each connector to the motherboard.
Refit side panel, mains and switch on.

So far this has always resolved the problem.
