Can you advise? My house is unpainted pebbledash, about 70 years old. We have been advised that it needs painting now because the pebbledash has 'gone'. I think this it is no longer keeping the damp out. I had understood that it was better not to paint as this would just increase maintenance, having to have it painted regularly from then on.

if you do not want to regularly paint, but want waterproofing. try a clear silicone such as Damp Guard
