penetrol??

Hey guys..
I painted a melamine face particle board with an oil base paint. Before I applied the paint I wiped on some penetrol. Once it dried. I scratched the painted surface and the paint came straight off...Isn't penetrol meant to make paint stick?? Will applying penetrol on top of the paint make it stick and not scratch off?

Ive never heard of it either....if you have to paint over melamine then id suggest you rub it down with fine wet an dry paper first then apply a primer.

Mechanical abrasion is always the best.
