going to start renovating our garden and first of all I'd like to construct a fairly heavy duty looking pergola approx 4.5m wide x 3.5m deep, probably from heavy oak beams (or similar). Could when concreting in the 4 uprights for it, I construct a concrete slab/base covering the whole floor area, and then tile the area under the pergola?
Or is there a better way to do it? Have never done any landscaping or garden design but know roughly what I'd like, and work in engineering so can turn my hand to a fair bit of DIY
