Can anyone pls confirm the permissibility of douche valves for toilets?
If they are an issue, why are they widely sold?

Non compliant & not permitted as there are no realistic options for installing them in a compliant way.

How realistic is any contamination risk? What is required in order for it to get contaminated?

TerryW I believe is suggesting that you use the bottle spray rather than a douche ;)

Any spray head etc that can come into contact with water that is a fluid classed CAT4 or higher must have a certain level of air gap, RPZ backflow prevention, or it's own separate supply as Dan mentions. The very nature of a douche, if it can touch yer a$$ or yer bath water, will always be a CAT4 risk or higher, therefore next to impossible to be compliant if on the mains, as the chaps have said.
If installed on the mains then there is always a chance that foul water can contaminate your drinking water, think twice before installing.

Honestly, how many of you pros have actually fitted a douche?

How is a bidet any different?

It's not specifically about fitting a douche, it's about whether something is acceptable under the regs 'that us pro's' should be following to protect the public mains water supply. Rarely get requests to fit them, once about 2 years ago, told them what they needed as a supply, they decided against it.
Bidets aren't any different, if they have ascending sprays/flexible sprays, they are the same and should only be fed from a stored - tanked water supply with air gap, it should not be connected to the mains. Again tho, as Dan pointed out, people do, even when it is in their best interests not to.

Ascending spray Bidets are the same.

Bidets with a tap and spout on the top are totally different as there is a natural air gap between the nozzle and the flood level of the bidet.

If you fancy drinking your neighbours missus' fanny batter why not get them to fit one. If you don't relish the thought, why should your neighbour?

So even these high end bathroom shops like CP Hart, selling Toto and other Japanese toilets where a sticks electronically moves under your *rse, is not allowed?

They are no the same as ascending spray Bidets, should still have backflow prevention, possibly with an RPZ built in. Either way it is academic.

If a CP Hart salesman jumped off a cliff because HE though it was a good idea, would you do the same.
