Could anyone confirm as to whether these bidet douches are actually legal? A neighbour wants one fitted to run from his WC but they seem to pretty much contravene Water Regs what with Fluid category 5 risks etc. Am I missing something here?

The bidet douches are legal but fitting them correctly is difficult, you are not allowed to connect them directly to supply pipes so they have to be tank feed, There must be thousands upon thousands in london and I havent seen one yet conforming to the water regs.

If the water supply pipe to the WC is cistern fed - I will need to confirm this first - then I would guess that installation is less onerous. What appears of real concern, though, is the spray aspect of these items. Not good.

Yes, I'd be fitting DCVs as a belt & braces approach.

If you want to stick to the regs then you can use the feed to the cistern as long as it does not feed anything else (unlikely) you will probably have to run a seperate feed to the spray as the double check valves will kill the flow , is it just being used with cold water ?

Well he certainly has not asked for a hot and cold connection so I will not be suggesting it. Are these things generally wise, though? Despite how it's connected if the handset were to be dropped into the bog surely any subsequent spray is totally contaminated?
