Not sure what is wrong with my Peugeot 206cc 2004 model.
The mechanic did a compression test and told us we have a burnt valve on the No.1 cylinder. He went off and had it repaired/replaced and when he returned he told us it is actually the lifters which is not pumping up, new lifters were fit
When he did another compression test all the cylinders were in the green, but the car still couldn't hold a steady idle, and cant rally driver without stalling.
We have also replaced the spark plugs at the same time.
it sounds like a tractor when it idles.

New (or old) lifters need to be primed before inserting them into the cylinder head - normally immersing them in thin engine oil for a good few hours is sufficient.
Having said that, I haven’t come across any that didn’t (eventually) fill up.
How long has the engine run for?
John :)

Hi Jon, thanks for your reply.
We had the engine running probably for a total of about 45 minutes, and also took it for a "test drive".
The mechanic has now comeback and said the only thing he hasn't checked is the coil pack (all the google searches I've done has pointed towards the coil pack) so lets see how that goes.
Thanks again

If the compressions are now equal on all cylinders then a coil pack issue is a reality....I’d expect the engine management lamp to be lit though.
John :)
