My 406 fuel guage has decided to lie to me.

it tells me I have exactly 1/2 a tank, when I know for a fact I have less than a 1/4.
the "miles left" on the computer is also staying on 311 remaining.

I am thinking the sender has gone, as unplugging it makes the fuel guage stay on empty with the light blinking, plug it in and up it goes to 1/2.

can anyone confirm this, and how does the sender unit come out of the tank??

thanks

The senders are usually accessable from under the rear bench seat. You'll probably find a round panel which unscrews to access it. Not too good on french stuff, but thats where it should be!

If the sender is duff (highly likely) then try gsf for a new one. Save you a fortune on main dealer price

cheers, does anyone know f the sender is avaliable as a seperate unit, the ones I have found on e-bay seem to be fuel pump/sender unit combined, I really hope so otherwise this could be expensive

Probably a lift pump/sender combined. They're 65 quid from gsf new

not taken it out yet, but it does seem to be an all in one unit (Why???) on the top is a single 4 pole socket (presumably sender supply and pump supply) and 2 pipes (Fuel send/return)

Still not figured how to get it out though, hopefully my replacement will reveal some answers.

Thats after I have tried a fill up of the tank to see if I can jolt it back into action!

If it has a swinging arm and float on it you'll probably be able to bend the arm a bit. will be alot of trial and error to get it right though, but may save you splashing out on a new one!

cheers, £65 is £100 less than my first quote!! (Yes £165, and from a pug specialist (not dealer))
