    Hello All,

I've recently moved into a house where there is a fly-off extension from the main Phone point of the house. They had put an ADSL filter off the socket and then run 5 metre leads off these, through the skirting/wall and then terminated these in lose fly off connectors that were untidy:

I bought a phone socket with "Phone" and "Modem" with the aim to just insert the wires which I thought would be self explanatory:

However, in the phone and modem cable they each have four wires, but the connector on the back of my new socket has six as shown below:

Can anyone help me with what colours go where from each cable??
    It would be much appreciated.

    Kieran

Which unfortunately are all stranded wires(rather than solid core) and probably 28AWG, meaning they are too thin for the IDC slots. What you are proposing won't work.

You need to run 2-pair CW1308 cable from the master to wherever you want this new split faceplate to be. At the master socket you remove just the lower half that comes off and connect to that. White-blue wire to 5 and blue-white to 2.

Then at the extension split faceplate, connect white-blue to L5 and blue-white to L2.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. It was just an exercise in tidying what was there. I doubt long term whether I'd even use that point for a phone, let alone my router... If it's not going to be easily possible, I will just remove the whole lot..!!
