I know, thats because either there are no main bonds (my bet) , or they are connected elsewhere, such as at the earth electrode or another terminal.

Only Lectrician knows the answer to that!

If its the latter, then niether the rail in the CU or the other terminal really fullfils the requirements of a MET, and hence there is no MET.

In that case I meet you half way and we could agree on "protective conductor"

No - it is not overheated, it is dirty! I hope it's not overheated - It only supplies a single socket on the 1st floor for the hoover - I have got to quote to supply a socket on every floor as the cleaner has to use a couple extensions!

This is a block of appartments, and as such, there is a ryefield board with an earth marshalling point adjacent to it. The ryefield board supplies 12 service heads and meters in the tradional pvc trunk. There is a TP meter for the communal lecky - this feeds a TP switch fuse for the lift, and this board is bodged out the incomming terminals of this same isolator.

In reality, the earth bar in that CU is the MET for the communal part of the installation. But you could still call the earth marshalling bar the MET for the building.

looks exactly like the MET to me ? And if it is the MET, I bet it does connect the MET to the means of earthing. (or would do if it was still connected !) and is therefore the Earthing Conductor.

Despite your pedantry over terminology, I accept that the wire in question is an Earthing Conductor, which is not currently connected to the Main Earthing Terminal and the CPCs. Happy?
