Picture Rails and paintstripper

I have to get the paint off my picture rails but they may contain lead paint (70 year old house). There are about 4 layers of paint.

The paint stripping with Nitromors is taking me ages.

What is the best way to so this (there may be lead paint).

Believe it or not it may be easier to simply take them off the walls and get a pine strpper to do the job before replacng them. Nitromors and lead-based paint are neither of them good for your health
