Hi all.
I know that the max pipe run with a 32 mm discharge pipe is 1.7 m and with a 40 mm pipe is 4 m. Does it mean that say for example i wanted to run a discharge pipe for a length of 5.7 m, could i run it up to 1.7 m in 32mm and from that point in 40mm for the remainder 4m giving a total of 5.7 m or would i only be allowed to run a further 2.3 m in 40 mm giving a total length of 4 m? Hope that is clear. Thank u 4 your time.

discharge pipe from what??

just for reference though if it s 4m in 40mm then it is 4 m in 40mm if its 1.7 in 32mm then its 1.7 in 32mm. If you are running 1.8m of pipe then it should be in 40mm its entire length. Normally its down to resistance values but without further info its hard to say. Hope thats clear enough for you?

Hi jonjb and thanks 4 answering. I have a w/basin 4.5 m away from soil stack. On the way to the stack, the 32 mm pipe connects up to the 40mm bath discharge pipe ( 1.5 m from w/basin). Can i run the 40mm pipe a further 3m up to the stack from the above 1.5m point making a total distance from w/basin to the soil stack of 4.5m or could i run the 40mm pipe from the 1.5m point only a further 1.5m making a total distance of 3 m which would be the max permissible length a 40 mm pipe can be run from a point to the soil stack? Hope that makes sense.

Anyone on that please?

I think you'll also find that the max length for 40mm is 3m, not 4m. Max for 50mm is 4m, both at a fall of 18-90mm per metre
