I’m planning to have a new Ikea kitchen and read about the lack of service void behind their cupboards.

Can someone please advise on how this is best managed? I will have a sink and washing machine that will have plumbing.

Also, I’m happy to redivert plumbing once the old units are out and the wall is bare if that makes things easier.

Thanks in advance.

I brought the units forward with battens etc, the knock on of this, could be the worktop width might not be enough, depending on what overhang you want.
I made my own tops, so wasn't a problem.

Thanks guys.
I've hit another restriction. I have already purchased a 600 wide worktop from Wickes a while back and only recently realised that the IKEA cabinets are 600+ deep. Unfortunately, they wont work for me.

I am now looking at Wickes cabinets but am really keen to fix these using the wall plate method.

I am favouring this method as I can get everything straightened from the outset and as I have a wall with battens and plasterboard, I can get some solid fixings into the studs.

Do you know if the Wickes cabinets will support this method? I am guessing that the intermediate units in a given run will need small chunks of the corners trimmed out so that the units sit flush but presumably, this wont be visible. With the end units, I will ensure that the wall plate terminates just inside these last units and therefore the visible ends wont have anything trimmed out of them.

I'd appreciate your thoughts and validation on the above please.
Thanks again.

most other manufacturers / suppliers of wall cabinets hang on brackets.
ikea kitchens are a nightmare.

Isn’t that rail for wall units? Can’t see the need for base units, just fix wherever you can, fix them together, fix to the worktop, tighten legs, all ends up rock solid and level...

how long before they tell us it’s a stone house and fitted the base units on an outside wall?
