Looking are re-wiring mothers house, likely she will never come home, but in case considering PIR in toilet and hall so she does not have to bother with switching on the light. But bedroom not sure if simply moving in bed will turn on light and make it worse rather than better. Last thing I want is to wake her up with light turning on.

So what are the controls like, can I set how sensitive, ideas now before I wire so I can consider how.

The last thing you want in a bedroom is a PIR, a second switch by the bed might be more helpful. The only PIR lighting that could be useable is something like this.

I would think that (if the area of coverage involves the bed) it's probably bound to be fairly unpredictable, no matter what sensor and/or how (if sensitivity is adjustable) it is adjusted - i.e. if it works as required, a sufficiently large movement in bed would probably trigger it.

You might be able to achieve largely what you would like by orientating (and/or masking) the sensor so that its area of coverage was essentially horizontal and above the level of the bed. In that way it ought to be pretty insensitive to what goes on in/on the bed. However, if, as I seem to recall, your mother is in a wheel chair, then it might be difficult to get 'discrimination' between a person in the wheel chair and a person in/on the bed.

Kind Regards, John

Noooo too risky.
Could have dreadful/ unseen consequences. Got a dog, or cat (rats) that'll set it off at the wrong time?
Or, it's late night, you bring her a cup of hot milk in bed, the light goes off:eek:

Pull switch dangling over the bed.
