PIR Light & Non timer extractor fan

Hi all,

I have installed a PIR light in a downstairs toilet. Just a live and neutral (taken from a nearby light) connected as no CPC required. Live and neutral then taken from PIR light to switched fuse isolator. Live and neutral from switched fuse isolator then taken to extractor. Problem I have is the extractor stays on. My understanding is that the PIR light should act as a timer for the extractor but this isn't happening. Only terminals on PIR light is for live and neutral and the same for extractor. Any ideas please?

The pir is built into the light (just switches the light) the feed to the light is permanent hence why the fan stays on.... I think if I've understood correctly

You need to connect the fan basically across the connections to the light part of the PIR light. Do you have wiring instructions for it. Post them on here might help.

The sensor and light may not need to be earthed BUT there needs to be a continuous Earth from the CU to the extremes of any circuit

Yes, CPC is continuous

Maybe you can’t connect to the PIR output; maybe the PIR is switching the low voltage to the LEDs?

Do you hear a relay click on and off when the PIR detects you?

You could remove the fcu and fit another pir there for the fan....maybe.

That's probably the only indication but, as @endecotp surmises, its not mains voltage inside after the PIR, and its is an integrated unit, so there's little chance of doing what you are hoping to achieve.

There is a way, but by using separate PIR and not that light fitting. Sorry.
