I have just taken down an old security light that was here when we moved in. It was a switched light but if you tried switching it on or off it would trip the electrics.
I noticed they had a terminal block inside the light which had the 3 lives, 3 neutrals and 3 earths together. My thinking is one of these was obviously the switch wire hence tripping the RCD if the switch was used. I have identified the switch wire with my multi-meter.
I have just purchased an LED Pir security light - Do I need the switch wire into the light, or do I leave the 2 permanent lives into it as I do not want to use the switch anyway......
Or would I still need the switch wire ?
