I have 3 joists in a room which are about 2m long. They are higher than the rest of the room. Only 2/3 of these joists are exposed as they run under some kitchen units. My question is how much of the joist can be planed before I effect its load bearing properties. I need to take about 20mm off all three versus raising the rest of the floor which is about 30sqm!!!
