Planning an extension

Full fill the cavity with Crown DriTherm, the wall insulation will go all the way to the top of the cavity and maybe beyond so that it joins snugly with the roof insulation, creating a bubble of insulation if you like. The horizontal line is a wall tie,

Thanks again Freddy

One last thing.....(sorry)

Is the DriTherm OK in the cavity below ground? I thought the cavity below ground had to be filled with weak mix mortar to prevent the leaves collapsing inwards when the trench is backfilled. If the Dritherm is OK all way down to the top of the foundations then its really straight forward job, lol.

Thanks again

when you refer to full fill what do u refer to filling the cavity with and to what height? Whats that horizontal line that bridges the cavity above the dpc?

Just fibreglass full-fill insulation batts (don't use rigid boards - too difficult to get right). Height = from top to bottom of cavity.

You are correct in thinking lean mix cavity fill up to within 225mm of DPC.

Dri-therm below DPC will depend upon your floor insulation detail. Most scenarios do not require it below DPC.
