plant identification and pruning

hi few queries if u can help a novice here please. am attaching three pics.

1. can someone help identify a plant with tall blue lowers and lower leaves..i hope it makes sense. a photo is attached.



2. another help with tree identification please. it is in my back garden. its quite a common tree but i dont know much.

3. for above tree, how do i prune it. as u can see from photo, its growing wayward and i want to cut some of it back. however some "leaves" on same branch are old and brown as u can see in photo, while the visible leaves are green. so if i cut those off, i will be left with a horrible looking brown leaves...i hope this makes sense..

Agapanthus, I think. A closeup photo would help.

Probably Leylandii. If not, then some related conifer.

"Prune" it at ground level. Chop it down.

if i cut those off, i will be left with a horrible looking brown leaves...
