Tree identification

Hi all,

Can anyone identify this tree for me please? It grows quite prolifically and in the photos I have heavily pruned the bottom 5 feet or so to clear the bit of space next to the shed.

As you can see, it's located about 6 feet away from the back wall of my garage - does this represent a threat and should I be looking at getting it removed?

Hi, Pittosporum, large shrub/small tree, slow growing, evergreen. Can be severely pruned and it will recover. But it does look like yours has overgrown its space. Root system not too invasive. Your tree would have took 10 or more years to have got to that size. I have six or more in my garden of different varieties.

You may want to cap its growth to prevent it blocking any more light to the kitchen (?) window...but that will encourage it to grow out and give you plenty of work in the years to come. Enjoy.

I've lived here about 6 years and it was already very well established at that point.

I think I'll have to trim it back significantly!

They're not great photos and the fence is a bit of a mess and acts like camouflage... but the tree is definitely my side!

give it a crew cut, will mean a longer pause before you have to cut it back again.
