plants with 'big roots'

I am planting on a steeply sloping site. I would like to use plants/shrubs which will help to hold the soil together and minimise slippage.

Any ideas?

Big rooted plants aren't necessarily the answer, you need plants that have lots of fiberous roots, grass is a good example.
