Hey folks. First post, and I'll warn you now, I'm a total DIY newcomer. If I annoy anyone with my idiotic ramblings just let me know. I deserve it for getting to my 30's and never having done more DIY than paint.

Anyway me and my girlfriend are buying our first house, which needs some work.

One of the main jobs is: the property has been rewired but the chases have not been filled. Allied to the whole house pretty much being covered in woodchip that we obviously want off, we are going to have the whole place skimmed.

That photo is representative of all the walls where wiring has been redone.

The father in law is excellent in this field but unfortunately couldn't make it to see the house when we scheduled him an appointment - so I am just after reassurance that this is standard, easy to fill stuff and it will be a case of filling the gaps and skimming - no nasty surprises like it has to all be taken off back to the brick

ps If anybody knows a good plasterer in Essex who'd fancy the job, I will be eternally grateful.
