hi i am having an extention built and i am ready to plasterboard the ceiling the problem is that my windows and patio doors have been delayed so i am left with openings. would it be alright to plasterboard the ceiling without these going in or would the plasterboard get damp and ruin. this is a single storey extention. any advice would be great thanks.

Leave it till the windows and doors are in, boarding a ceiling wont take long.

i have actually seen 9.5mm plasterboards sag between joist fixings before being skimmed. these were at 2'-0" centres though, and it was a six week delay before the boards were skimmed.

all looked good once the boards were skimmed. i was only a wet behind the ears labourer at the time, but i always remember the spread showing my gaffer the amount of sag with a spirit level.

he also pointed out, (something i've never forgotten) the importance of using 12.5 mm boards, particularly for ceilings.

if it is only a short period of time, i shouldn't worry. use 12.5mm boards though.

thanks for the advice depending on delay might cover up openings with bit of ply and use 12.5
