hi

i have lined over walls which have large areas of old paint
which came off wheb removing old paper. i sealed the surface
with evervbuild 406 and lined.
i applied leyaln trade white paint as a test over the lining paper
and the darker llaster colours still shows through the lining
paper.
Do i need to double line it or would a better quality paint say
dulux trade matt cover the differences in surface colour?

regards

The plaster should not show through the lining paper. I can't see how an extra layer of paper will help. Is it possible that the wall is damp or that old water stains are leaking through? If the later, and not the former, then you could use a stain blocker (eg Zinsser BIN) or old school oil based undercoat.

Ordinarily I wouldn't purchase Leyland emulsion but over lining paper it should be absolutely fine given that it is a clean slate.

what colour were the plaster patches when you papered them? light pink? dark brown? grey? cream?
