10 year old house plasterboard ceiling movement and skimmed badly by previous owner. Tried filling and sanding back to flat but once painted still some unsightly filling attempts etc.

I do not want to renew the whole ceiling and too many spots to part renew. I am thinking about paper lining with 1400 and then painting over.

Whats the view out there! Any advice is welcome. Thanks

Using lining paper is a bit of a bodge IMO & once you put that stuff up, you won’t be able to re-skim it unless it’s stripped back again; may not be easy once it’s painted. If the ceiling boards are basically sound, refix with additional screws to pull the boards back up onto the joists; if that doesn’t stop the flexing, you need to investigate further to find out why. When it’s OK, tape any cracks, rough fill any holes where the nails have popped the plaster & get it re-skimmed by a decent plasterer.
