Plasterboard direction on a new stud wall

Hi,

I'm just building my first stud wall and I was planning on putting the uprights at 600mm centres and using 2400 x 1200 plasterboard hanging vertically. However I've measured the height from the floor and its 2440. Is it okay to still hang vertically and leave a 40mm gap as it will be covered by the skirting or should I cut a small piece of plasterboard to fill this gap in?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Just put a 30mm piece of board at skirting level.
The joint will be covered by the skirting anyway & give you more to attach the skirting too. Leave approx 10mm gap form floor so any water spilt etc does no soak up the plasterboard
