You may guess from the user name that I am no longer interested in DIY, I get a man in.
So when I received the response to my question on the effect of prolonged water exposure on plasterboard, which was replace it and as this was my feeling as well I decided to claim on my insurance.
I have now been visited by 'an independent surveyor' and a rep for the contractor appointed by the contractor appointed by the claims company appointed by the insurer.
They will repair the holes cut into the the bathroom wall needed to find the leak, but will only redecorate the larger downstairs wall soaked by that leak. This is constructed from a c50mm thick construction with an 'egg box' separating the two layers of plasterboard. From my what little I can see the inside board is trashed, but the outer ie facing into the room and now relatively dry,is by their definition sound. I do not agree with them but need help in preparing my augment, comments please. (do not get involved with insurance companies will not be helpful although probably true). [/b]
