Hello

Having stripped with a paint knife 20 years of paint I have discovered that the plasterboard is put on with the grey side out. As I understand it the white side should be outermost and all that has been done is the jointing compund? applied to the where the boards join.

Can I just apply some plaster primer or a mist coat of emulsion and will this help prevent paint peeling off the walls again? I am tempted to take off the boards and stuff the walls with insulation and then put them back with the correct side out and tape then jointing compund and paint the matt emulsion mist coat on and go from there.

Is this ok to do any of this. These walls appear never to have been plastered.

Thanks

Why don't you just prime and plaster them!
Back in the day it was grey side for plaster, ivory side for joint tape. Is now recommended ivory regardless!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

I don't have any experience plastering so it sounds like a job for the builder.
