Plasterboard sizes

Why would i use large plasterboards over the smaller ones?

The room is large, and if I had 2 men on the job, then it would probably make sense to use the large ones, but I'd rather do the work on my own, and the 2400x1200 are too big to manage by oneself.

Simple really
Better coverage with less joints
And will usually work out a bit cheaper

There is a knack to handling the boards yourself but its definitely do-able

But don't you have to skim it all anyway, so all the joints are going to be covered. Bit of extra effort putting the joint tape on... am I missing something else?

But they inevitably will over time. or deform or move. Seen it in tons of hosues. Eventually they will show and need attending too. Using big boards = fewer joins, less cracking possible also. Works out considerably cheaper to use large boards also.

Yea it would be hard to use them by yourself. We put all new ceilings up using full boards, 2-3 holding them up quickly while I walked around (being tall) reaching up and screwing them in. Didn't take long once the boards were ready to go up.
