Plasterboard wall guides?

Hello all.

I have just moved house, and as I imagine you see a lot of here, am enthusiastic about improving it.

I have an open plan kitchen-diner, and thought it'd be nice to actually separate these two areas and put up a nice glazed wood door, and carpet the remaining dining area.

I am quite kneen to have a go at this, if it is actually possible for an amauter like me to achieve, with some planning. Are there any guides, or can anyone tell me how much is involved? It would only be a two metre wide wall, no corners or anything to hard (from my perspective).
