Plastering around door frame

Hi,
I’ve just purchased a 1930s ground floor flat.
It’s my first real diy project. I have been doing ok so far, stripping it out.
I’ve decided to replace the door frames because they are old and have lead paint on them.
When I pulled the frames out, it has caused a bit of damage to the walls.
I would like some advice on what I would need to do to repair it.
I’m happy to do the work myself, unless it will be too big of a job, then I will get a professional.
Will I be able to just patch up the damage with plaster? If so, what type of plaster would I need?
Would the damaged area then be strong enough to hold another frame once it is installed?
Please provide any help or advice or tips. It will be greatly appreciated.
I have attached some photos.

Thanks,
Michael

Apart from that big chunk that has come off, the rest is fine.
Fit the frames, then fill gaps with expanding foam (I only use fire proof, seems to expand less).
Once cured, cut excess and fill where necessary.
Architrave will hide 99% of damage.

I don’t suppose you kept the architrave?
you plaster after the door lining is in, then fit architrave.
sometimes a small bag of quick dry cement is handy to fill bigger holes. But many big holes makes it expensive

I’m going to replace the architrave.

Thanks, thats really handy to know. I’ll make sure I do it that way.

Thanks a lot for your help.
