I have been given the option of rendering (sand+cement) or hardwall and multifinish on top. The plasterer is keen to render than to use hardwall. I am more used to hardwall in all houses I have been, actually I do not think I have ever seen a house with sand+cement render. What is the better way to do it?

Thanks. I have also found sand+cement in two old rooms. I have since spoken to a few plasterers and they all seem to have their own preferences, most however are OK with either floating or plaster-boarding, it is my choice.
