Hi All,

I’ve got the plasterers starting next week, I’ve taken a chimney out.
Wall is pretty black still from the soot, been chiselled and wire brushed.

Plasterer wants to cover over it with plasterboard stuck on with board adhesive. Problem is, we have a kitchen going up on the wall so would like a good fix for the wall units etc.

I’ve been thinking of Sugar Soaping the wall, then putting on a Everbuild Stain Block Spray and then Febond Blue Grit Plaster Bonding Agent. Then he can Plaster over the whole wall.

Do you think this is a good base for the plaster?

If your going down the sand and cement route ,you may like to consider using "Blue circle sulfacrete" sulphate resisting cement instead of ordinary cement. I used it on a leaking chimney after speaking to their technical support department
