I have thermal blocks that I want to plaster over. Unfortunately every guide I've seen recommends either battens and plasterboard or dabs and plasterboard. I've never seen any guides to doing it the 'old way'. Obviously the latter will take longer, but suppose I really want to go through with this how do I go about it?
My thinking is a couple of coats of pva mix (1 part pva, 2 parts water), allow to dry, then batton out the area to fill with 10mm strips of wood to act as guides, perhaps 3ft apart. Apply bonding coat, then use a plasterers feather or other straight edge to get it all level with the battens, allow all to set, prise out the battons, and fill in the gaps.
Is that roughly how it's done?
thanks,
Simon.
