Is there anyway of repairing this with a patch of something. It's the cheap tongue and groove panelling thanks.

Never come across a way of repairing it. Usually needs to be replaced, preferably with solid core panelling that's much more durable
 
Is it a rental? Do aesthetics matter? You can get waterproof repair patches.

It is one of the follies of the cheaper honeycomb wet wall, it's great for quick renovations but it can be buckled, dented and cracked surprisingly easily.
