Does anyone worry about putting plastic pipework in for central heating in the void below the floorboards downstairs with regards to mice or rats?

I am one who doesn't see plastic pipes as the 21st century evil, but I wouldn't use them under floorboards on ground floor.
For some reasons rats like to chew them.
