Go to the screwfix site & type in TRV.
loads of pictures.

its not that simple, i am doing some coursework, part of that coursework is identifying whether these actual things are TRV's. The TRV's on my radiator look different, but these look like they might serve the same purpose??

please can someone confirm?

something else :D

you're absolutely sure? the smiley face looks like you are joking? i cant afford to get this wrong. do you know the official term for what they are if they are not TRV's?

thanks in advance.

They dont serve the same purpose

they are lock sheild valves and are only there to balance/isolate the rad

they are known as "hand wheel valves" in my neck of the woods. def not lockshields

in the village known as Scotland these types of valves are wheelhead if the head can be turned to put rad on/off or lockshield if cap head is smooth, remove head to shut down to remove rad etc

OK thanks, i'll just put valves, the main thing is that i can identify them as not TRV's.

Thanks again.

Never heard them called that before twgas, when I buys em I ask for lockshields and get the heady choice of either a blank cover or one that can turn the valve

funny how stuff gets different names in different places

:)

The manufacturers name is Peglers Terrier wheel head radiator valve

And the other one is a Cosmos valve - cheapo but reasonably reliable.

If you ask for a lockshield and receive a wheelhead then both you and the person serving you is being foolish, because for a domestic rad valve the only difference is in the knob.
