Please help me - Water suddenly gone cold on elec shower

Hi there,

I installed a Gainsborough 9.5kw Electric Shower just over 2 years ago now and all of a sudden the water just won't run warm/hot.

Just ice cold water coming out.

I would rather not have to change the shower if can get away with fixing it myself, I'm no pro but i'm ok with DIY.

Has the thermostat within the shower or the element gone? and if so where abouts in the shower are they? are they within the casing of the water pump?

Can anyone help ?

I can't find the original instructions but having taken front cover off and have the following info.....

product type - 201-00635 W-C

it's a Gainsborough 9.5E

your shower being the later type Gainsborough has the black box on the inside when you remove the cover ?

yes as i said the 9.5e later type Gainsborough has the black unit.
which is a sealed unit called a engine nothing you can fix on them but buy a complete new engine unit.

yep you're right - there is a black engine box behind the cover, ok well thanks.

Looks like i'll have to price up a new engine box.
