Please help before I get an axe and kill the boiler,

I am having problems with the central heating it won't work full stop, It started with the pressure falling to zero and the heating just switching off so we had a plumber out that fixed a leak in the radiator and said that would do the trick, however now it just doesn't work at all.
I have asked the plumbers advice and he said it's now too out of his depth to continue with any further repairs on it  What to do now?
I have rang baxi and they said there would be a £170 call out fee for
them to send an engineer out thats before any parts and labour. Great.
I have adjusted the pressure on many occasions by releasing the valve but now the pressure remains up but no central heating.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sarah

Heateam (baxi) do fixed price repairs.......not 170 for a call out.

And depending on what it is it may well be worth it too! You need a qualified repair engineer or go the fixed price root

Well thats not what they said when i rang them today!!

There are several red neons lighting at the front but the one for central heating sensor is not on. Neither is the green central heating light across the bottom. When i turn the hot tap on at the sink the boiler flame fires up as normal, nut then nothing happens with the central heating.

what IS lit :?:

poss sticky switch

Hot water is working fine.

The lights that are lit are:
Power on
Hot water on
Burner on (when hot tap is running)

Along the top set of lights there is:
Flame faliure (lit)
Safety thermonstat activated (lit)
Fault on fan or flue (lit)
Fault on pump or low pressure (lit)
Fault on hot water (lit)
Fault on central heating sensor (NOT LIT)

Central heating mode along the bottom is also not lit even though we have the dial pointing towards central heating anf the thermostat indicates it should be on (with a little flame at 22 degrees)

According to the manual lit is good not lit indicates a fault.

What controls do you have for your heating?
If you have a roomstat that takes batteries does it need new batteries?

Just tried new batteries that didn't work.
We have a thermostat that turns the heating on depending on time and temp and we have on the boiler an indicator for either hot water or central heating and hot water and thats it.

faulty dhw microswitch or press diff ass' pin stuck (unlikely)
Blr stuck in dhw mode will not operate htg

Heateam do not have a call out charge and would not have told you so. Staff have VERY strict procedures and scripts which they adhere to.

...Mind you there is always the numpty factor to take into consideration

Just rang again and got someone else, they admitted they don't have a call out charge and i must have been mis informed, They did quote me however £285 all in which is too much to pay out at the min, got someone looking at it now who's been hard to get hold of, fingers crossed.

When you say you put new batteries in does that mean you have a wireless thermostat?, if so it has probably stopped communicating. There should be a receiver by the boiler somewhere possibly with a light on and maybe an override button?

I agree olski, sounds like a control problem not a boiler problem. I woundnt call out heateam just yet.

Hot water light is on!

At least thats the way i'm reading the post.

Sarah. Does the DHW demand light stay on even when no demand made or were you describing what happens when you make dhw demand. It's a little unclear from your entry.
