I have a Heatline Central Heating System that has just started heating the upstairs radiators only. Unfortunately it is 3 weeks out of warranty. I was suspecting a block in the system so I turned off the upstairs radiators to try and force the water to flow into the downstairs radiators. The downstairs started heating up but when I turned on the upstairs radiators the downstairs became cold again. Strangely the hot water is now warm next to cold. When I restart the boiler I can hear the pump kicking in which I assumed that it is worked (not sure if I'm correct). I called a plumber who came to assess the boiler but he wasn't sure what was wrong with it. Please help me my family is freezing. Thanks

I hope you did not pay a plumber who had no idea about heating systems!

I doubt the warrantee would have helped when you employed an installer who did not bother to clean the system.

Cheap boilers are always followed by cheap installers. They are in turn followed by costly repairs/remedial work!

You need a competent boiler engineer not a plumber! Dont expect it will be very cheap as you will need the work doing which should have been part of the installation!

Thank very much Tony for getting back to me so swiftly. The plumber I called advertises in the local paper as a boiler specialist so I thought it would be a wise move to call someone who advertises themselves in the paper. He charges £45 per call out.
When you say clean the system, could that be flashing the system or there's different kind of cleaning. Does cleaning the system restore the boiler back to its working condition again or maybe some parts will need replacing such as the pump. How much do you think I need to budget for this kind of work to be carried out.

Many thanks
Brytt
