plumbed BBQ

What are the regs with regard to plumbing a gas BBQ into the domestic gas line?

Outside?

A Gas Safe bloke will be along to shout at you shortly.

You'd probably need to change the jets, they're intended for use on propane.

Yes outside :p At least ventilation won't be a problem.

And I don't mean retrofitting a normal BBQ onto mains. I mean getting one designed to run on mains, but installed outside.

And I've been shouted at a lot by them recetly :/

I am sure the gas reg engineer whom you say ( pretend? ) will be dealing with the internal pipework will be happy to do a little outdoor pipework for you as well.

There are several regulations which can apply depending on the routing of the gas supply pipe.

No pretend this time. £45 an hour, est. 5 hours work, probably closer to 2 if pipes are already run. For £90, I'm more than happy to shift liability and sit within the law.

I was simply musing on what regulations/legality are involved as I'm tinkering with garden design and need to know where I can put a BBQ.

If you tell us what routing you propose we can tell you the generality of how it can be done.

Tony

Not sure at the moment on what route would be needed. Though just to know that it is possible and legal to run outdoor gas appliances, albiet with limiting regulations, will be enough for now. I'll re-visit this thread when I have a better plan.

Cheers for replies.

Yes, you can have external gas appliances - BBQs, Pizza ovens etc. Did your gas man not tell you that when he quoted?
