Plumbers mait or silicone sealant?

Hi,

I am fitting a waste outlet to an acrylic bath and have used plumbers mait under the flange. Is this Ok or should I have used silicone sealant? What is the difference and is silicone sealant the same as the one used to seal the edge of the bath to the tiles? Thanks for any help.

I would use plumbermate as it's specially for that job as it will bedded in better than silicone sealant which can be messy & will discolour (black/mould) .Trim the plumbermate wastage with a plastic knife.
