I recently purchase a Mira Shower sport to replace the old model which started to leak.
We have removed the shower and we could see that the pipework would come from the floor up, concealed thorough the wall. The shower connected straight from the rear.( see attached picture)

We have bought the new Mira sport, which showed on the box that the shower would also connect from rear, top and bottom. However, in the INSTALATION section at point no 2 is stated that “DO NOT USE an incoming supply entering the shower directly from the back. Add an elbow to the supply pipe and connect it as a rising or falling supply”.

What shall we do- do we still need to add the elbow recommended? The plumber could actually
fit the shower without the additional pipe work need it to enter the unit from either the top or the bottom, but we put the job on hold as the instructions were not clear to us. We were not sure whether the swivel arm (inlet connector) has some internal parts which would not work properly and the shower might get damaged for not having the elbow connected.
Any feedback is much appreciated.

Connect it as the instructions say from top/bottom.

connecting it straight from the rear makes it a pig connecting the nut onto the filter/inlet connection as the nut will be half in the wall.
connecting it from the top/bottom the nut is easy to access.
