My in-laws are moving into a sheltered bungalow, both in their 80's. The kitchen has hot and cold connections and drainage pipe already set up for fitting one of them. Is it possible to fit both appliances using just the one of each hot/cold/drain? and if so HOW?
For the hot and cold supply you can get splitters that will double up the connector. However, they're not the best of things and can leak. It would be best to get a plumber to tee off the existing feeds to create to feeds for each.
As for the waste, you can simply tee off that too. Do it lower down so that where the waste pipe is at it's lowest, cut it on the vertical and add a T (but on its side) piece. Add the piece that you cut off into the vertical and then add a short piece for the horizontal. At the end of that horizontal add an elbow and then add another length, the same length as the other vertical) into the open part of the elbow.
You now have two waste pipes.
Apologies if this isn't clearly explained - it was the only way I could think to try and explain it.
