Can anyone tell me what the difference between an "s" plan and "y" plan is in a heating system, Thanks

y = one three port

have they got silver tops

if so then you probably need a new syncron motor (about a tenner from ost good suppliers)

its the other way round, got no hot water but radiators hot

then its the vlave that serves you hot water cylinder, should be easy to trace it back from thew cylinder

still probably need a new motor.
