PME Question

I've got a question about a seemingly redundant PME connection.

In our property, the incoming electricity and gas supplies are co-located. Our electrical supply is TN-C-S and there is a 10mm earth cable clamped to the incoming gas main.

There is also a 10mm earth cable running to the water main approximately five metres away. This is where things are odd...

Our incoming water main is LDPE, and all the internal house plumbing is Hep2o. There is a short length (approx 50mm) of copper pipe which has been installed between the LDPE and the main stop tap. The earth clamp is attached to this.

This seems madness?

Better there than not.

When it was originally bonded, perhaps the install was copper in the property?

I for one at first fix will always run an MEB to the water, as you never now exactly what the plumber has up his sleeve.

Put it this way - at least yours is done







And i am not too sure what the reference to PME is? Every earthing system has a requirement for main equipotential bonding (or protective bonding as it is soon to be known).
