Hi.

I am using PoE cameras which the description say is vandal resistant.

I am new to this, and it does not say if I need to run separate cable, or how the alarm works.

Also the Hard Drive in the NVR is 4TB. I guess there is no harm in using a 3TB for Backup.

Any advice on this, please?.

Thank you.

No cameras are vandal proof, which is why outside some buildings they are protected with a wire cage.

If they are PoE, that means they are connected with an ethernet cable to the recording device. They won't need a separate power supply if the NVR is also equipped for PoE.

If the NVR has space for two drives you can use any secondary drive size. Bear in mind that ordinary computer drives are not designed for continuous surveillance use and may not have a long life.

You generally wont need a huge amount of storage as you will only need to keep it if there is an incident. I record 24/7 and use a 2TB HDD.

Thank you.

The NVR is an XN8P, PoE.

I will have to check with suppliers if it can accommodate 2 x HDs.

Hard Drive is Seagate Skyhawk/Surveillance.

Thank you.

After waiting for a long time I got an answer from the suppliers.

It can accommodate 2 HDs, but it is warranted (has a seal) for 3 years.

So if I wanted to fit a secondary, it would have to be external.

In that case, I would want a Skyhawk, but I can't see any Skyhawk, external.

How many cameras?
What resolution?
What frame rate?
What size HDD do you have?

Vandal resistance is determined by its IK rating, think its a little misleading mind as there is more ways to vandal than hit it with a hammer.

IK00 - - - No protection against any mechanical impact
IK01 0.15 Protected against a 200 g object dropped from 7.5 cm in height
IK02 0.2 Protected against a 200 g object dropped from 10 cm in height
IK03 0.35 Protected against a 200 g object dropped from 17.5 cm in height
IK04 0.5 Protected against a 200 g object dropped from 25 cm in height
IK05 0.7 Protected against a 200 g object dropped from 35 cm in height
IK06 1 Protected against a 500 g object dropped from 20 cm in height
IK07 2 Protected against a 500 g object dropped from 40 cm in height
IK08 5 Protected against a 1.7 Kg object dropped from 29.5 cm in height
IK09 10 Protected against a 5 Kg object dropped from 20 cm in height
IK10 20 Protected against a 5 Kg object dropped from 40 cm in height
IK10+ 40 Protected against a 10 Kg object dropped from 40 cm in height.

Two cameras to start with.
5MP.
Not sure of frame rate.
4TB
