polypipe in notched joists

Hey if running polypipe in notched joists and fixing with nailing clips will it cause noise through expansion and contraction as the heating goes on and off or is that just with copper pipes?

if it has space to move with thermal expansion it wont. If its squeezed in it will

Is it not advisable to use nailing clips to clip to the notched joists then?

is using nailing clips to clip the plastic pipes to the notched joists ok then?

I prefer to use saddle clips with a small pad of hair felt lagging between the pipe and joist when clipping pipes in notches.

Use copper pipe.
No clips and no sag.

does plastic pipe expand more length ways than expand in diameter. So using nailing clips to fix the pipes to the notched joists may not be as much of a problem as with copper?

nail it if you want, the expansion is primarily linear and the pipes will therefore sag in between joints when warm. Personally I would only secure where necessary to prevent it jumping out when replacing boards.

ok so if I just clip it sparingly i.e not as it passes through every joist I should be ok?
