Pop-up basin plug assembly broken

Fixing one problem yesterday, the pop up bit in our bathroom basin seemed to fall apart and I assume is knackered (pic) - is the item below likely to be a suitable replacement and will the old cylinder part left in the plughole just unscrew?

Hi,
It might be worth removing the 'cylinder' part first and checking the dimensions compared to the Amazon part.
But yes, it should unscrew, or else you wouldn't be able to screw in the new one!

Some pliers should help remove it.
And the parts are pretty standard so the Amazon one will probably fit.
