As we approach remembrance Sunday, may I once again thank all those members of the armed forces, past and present, for doing what you do and what you have done in the name of keeping us all safe.

On the subject of poppies, I was told the other day that the three elements have significance. The red represents blood, the black represents death and the green leaf represents new beginnings. Moreover, the leaf itself should be placed pointing at 11 o'clock. This might or might not be true, but it sounds about right to me.
